The trochlear nerve is the only cranial nerve to decussate in the brain-
stem and emerge from its dorsal aspect.
I've found a few articles that has some embryological and evolutionary
explanations, but none too convincing. I would appreciate any ideas or
thoughts or even a different slant on this conundrum.
