I have a position available for a first time post-doctoral fellow to study
molecular and cell biology aspects of Alzheimer's disease using human
primary neuron, astrocyte and microglia cultures. Techniques used in the
lab include 1) detection of neuronal degeneration and cell death
especially apoptosis (TUNEL, DNA ladder, MTT assays, staining of condensed
chromatine), 2) metabolic labeling ,immunoprecipitation and quantitation
by phosphorimaging to measure metabolism of amyloid precursor protein, 3)
study of gene expression by Northern, Rt-PCR and Western blots,4)
measurements of kinase activity, 5) protein-protein interactions by yeast
hybrid system, cross-linking and co-immunoprecipitation. Applicants should
have a soid background in a few of these areas; biochemistry, cell
biology, molecular biology or neuroscience. If interested, please send a
fax of your CV and references to Andrea LeBlanc (assistant Prof. Dept.
Neurol. & Neurosurg. McGill U.), Bloomfield Center for Research in Aging
