Itch, subliminal pain?

Commonly itch is considered as a typical exteroceptive sensory phenomenon. It
only can be elicited from the most superficial layers of the skin by the release
of histamine.
I vaguely remember having read an article describing the existence of
enteroceptive itch.
May be my memory is blurred. I must admit that I have lost contact with the
neurophysiological and psychophysiological literature during the last years.
Who can put me on the start of a trail?
