A 55 year old recurrent breast cancer patient presented with mild back pain.
Subsequent x-rays, CT scan, and MRI indicated a pathological fracture at
C2, due to a new lesion at this location.
Patient subsequently began radiation treatment for the lesion. Within two
days of beginning radiation treatment at C2 for the lesion, patient
developed severe pain down left leg, with numbness of three smallest toes.
The pain appears associated with the sciatic nerve. Can there be a direct
link between the fracture at C2, radiation treatment, and the left leg pain.
The radiation treatment has been concluded, though the pain remains. A
pelvic MRI is planned for additional understanding of the problem.
Any information would be appreciated.
