Gray's Anatomy shows the internal middle and external cutaneous nerves
down the thigh appear to touch at the endings from them over the knee
cap. I presume they do not.
The internal cutaneous nerve appears thicker. Does that supply the knee
cap skin more than the others? Would it be preferable when opening the
knee for knee cap surgery to take the cut more around the outer
circumference of the knee cap? Perhaps some small artery re-joining
might be needed to keep blood supply.
