I definitely agree with you about your concerns for follwing the
scientific method and providing evidence for the claims they are
asserting. However the Doctor who is sending you private mail did bring
up what I feel is a good point, which is the funding issue.
The politics often involved with assuring funding for your project can be
riddled with variables and people seemingly unconcerned with factual
evidence. Personal motives, hatreds, and fear of the shaking of your
fundamental beliefs in a system can often stop a well thought out project,
even if it has merit. Often is the case where an old 'well established
scientist' will pull his weight to stop a project that may contradict or
challenge the views he/she established.
Hopefully the day will come when science will be a field of pure knowledge
seeking and searching for benefits for mankind, instead of the mad rush
for money and profits that infects many 'educational institutions' today.
