POST-DOCTORAL POSITION OFFERED
Applications are invited for a research position at the
Max-Planck-Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at Leipzig, Germany.
The position is limited to a period of 12 months, preferably
beginning immediately but no later than January 1st, 1998.
A prologation period of another 12 month is possible.
The institute was newly founded in 1995. Its prime research focus
is the analysis of cognitive processes in the human brain. The
institute has a 3-Tesla MR scanner at its disposal on which a
multitude of functional studies are being conducted. In addition,
PET and SPECT studies are performed in collaboration with the
The lab seeking applications is dedicated to 3D image analysis,
segmentation, and 3D visualization of MRI images. Three projects
are available in which the successful candidate may participate:
(1) object recognition: design and implementation of advanced
segmentation methods for brain objects,
(2) morphometry: the quantitative description of shapes as
revealed by MR tomography,
(3) pathology: design and implementation of algorithms to
delineate and quantify pathologic changes, as well as their
follow-up in time-series.
Candidates should have a PhD in mathematics, computer science or
in some related field with a good research record demonstrated
by recent publications, preferably in image analysis. Candidates
should also have good interpersonal skills and an interest in
working in an interdisciplinary team. German language skills are
helpful but not required.
