I am am Ph.D. physicist but a total novice at brain research, so I am
hoping someone on this list can point me in the right direction
regarding this question:
What part of the brain is most active when a subject is performing
music? i.e. humming, singing, playing an intstrument, etc. I am not
specifically interested in the brain function related to physical motion
like vibrating the vocal chords or moving fingers over a piano.
Instead, I am interested in what part of the brain is active during the
process of playing music in ones head.
I've done some research on the web recently and seen lots of research
about the brain's response to listening to music, but not creating it.
Can anyone give me a suggestion about where to find such research?
