Light therapy

In today's news, Dr. Thomas Wher, NIMH, said "There are more biological
mechanisms underlying the human response to light than was drempt of in
our original hypothesis. Still, until others repeat the experiment, the
findings have to be regarded as preliminary."

The experiment that he was referring to was the use of light in the back
of the knees to reset the master biological clock in the human brain.
Has this experiment been repeated?

I know that light is used to treat midwinter depression. Is there any
other therapy that effectivly used light?
