The 'sides' of horses

I was wondering if anybody knew of any research into the topic below, or
anything on the science of left v's right hands as it relates to brain
function.

Specifically, I am very interested in the apparent 'sides' of horses
(horses tend to favour one side in there work) in much the same way
humans are left or right handed. Given that horses receive vision
independently and to different parts of the brain, it possible that one
side of the brain is used more for communication, (as it is with humans)
and thus favoured by the horse. Any ideas on this topic would be
apreciated.
