Nerve regeneration

I am cross-posting this thread in alt.support.glaucoma so as to
include bionet.neuroscience -- in order to invite posters to post to
both NGs something on the current status of "regeneration of neurons
in the human CNS" and what is currently being done at the cutting edge
of experimental higher-mammalian neurobiology dealing with both the
CNS and peripheral nervous systems. Some brief tutorial comments on
the differences and similarities in what can be done with both
categories of nervous-system components in several species of higher
mammals would be appropriate. Please gloss over this whole thread in
alt.support.glaucoma to get an idea of the shortcomings of what is
being posted in this thread and see if you can reravel it. It is
rather moth-eaten by certain elements of religion, TV and herbal
belief systems -- not to mention apparent sheer ignorance of all
present posters, this one included.
