Can a Web site in Cyberspace hypnotize its visitors?

I worry a lot more about the slick-talking liar that taps into
someone's hopes and dreams to get money (or worse) than a set
of on-screen hypnotizing eyeballs. At least the hypnotizing
eyeballs provide advance warning that they might be after
something.
