Neural Coding

Thanks for all the replies, i have another quetion now though.  i
understand the 3D aspect of the coding now, what i am a little confused
about now is what i read about as the Time/Rate codes.  Are these obsolete
or are they just an integral part of the coding?

Also, i was led to believe that they are 2 different things, despite the
similarity their name would imply.  Is there a simple difference between
the two?
