Location: Indianapolis, IN United States
This scientist would be working in the Bioproduct Pharmaceutical
Product Development group. The PPD group consists of these groups,
Microbiological Testing, Contaminate Post Cell and DNA, Assay and
The candidate would be responsible for developing new functional
cell-based in vitro bioassays to test the biological potency of this
companys drug products which are under development -(building of
tests(assays) that will tell the purity, activity, contaminants and
quality of product).
One would also be expected to remain current with new technology and
implement this technology as appropriate.
The candidate would also be expected to serve as a coach and mentor to
newer associates within the team with the possibility of supervision.
Our team is a service group within Development, supporting this
company’s drug products from the early phase of development
(pre-IND) to new drug/product launch.
We are responsible for the development of an in vitro cell based
bioassay used to determine the biological potency of bulk drug
substance, drug products, and related drug substances to support
toxicology studies, stability studies, clinical trials and product
The candidate would interact with many groups throughout this company
from Discovery, Statistics and Quality Control Labs to Product teams
BS/BA with 2+ years academic or bio-technical /pharmaceutical
experience or MS in the Biological Sciences or Biochemistry.
Industry bio-analytical assay, in vitro or cell based functional assay
experience with a pharmaceutical / bio-technical company) (Physical
Chemists are not preferred).
The Bioanalytical Scientist is required to have significant protein
experience as they are not a discovery group, they are developing
functional based assay's.
Relevant Work Experience:
A preferred strong background in biological sciences such as Cell
Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry Pharmaceutical Industrial experience
Good written and verbal skills.
Adept at analytical problem solving.
Experience in in vitro cell-based methods and their development.
Knowledge and experience in cell culture, cell-based methods, cell
Knowledgeable in applied statistics.
Experience in a cGMP environment.
Required Technical skills:
Cell culture, cell-based methods (for example: proliferation,
cytotoxicity, cell signaling, cell cycle, etc. )
Assay Development experience.
Technical growth and application, innovation and creativity; team
Helpful, but not required:
Analytical protein techniques (i.e. ELISAs, Western blots, Gel
Receptor assays (i.e. binding affinities, functional assays, cell
