That's probably a variation of Dostojewksi's claim: "If there's no God,
everything is allowed." This implies that the only possible reward or
punishment is after death. Since this is obviously wrong (there are rewards
and punishments in this world, and there's even a mathematical theory about
how to maximize your rewards, the game theory), there's no need to follow
Dostojewksi here.
IMHO morals only derived from words in holy books are often quite bogus, and
sometimes outright evil.
