I might just add this to the theory that has evolved so far. It regards
observation and the collapse of the wave function.

When an observation is made, the knowledge of what has occurred becomes a
part of the single conscious entity.

All of the things that are subject to the effects of the single conscious
entity are affected accordingly.

Because things like brains, electrons etc are constantly subject to the
effects of the single conscious entity, one effect of this is the collapse
of wave functions that occurs during an observation by an individual. Why
the collapse occurs is a mystery, but the spooky effects of observation lend
credibilty to any theory that incorporates an omnipresent consciousness.
They also lend credibility to the idea that individual life-forms are
constantly providing that omnipresent consciousness with information.
