The book Dag pointed to seems to be quite good. Gunturkun and his
co-workers have brought a new quite interesting insight into the idea of
brain asymmetries. Apparently the female menstrual cycle has a strong
influence on the asymmetry of the female brain. Women have a very
dynamic brain concerning this aspect as within 28 days it will switch
from two almost symmetric halfs to a brain as asymmetric as that of a
male and back again:

Hausmann M, Becker C, Gather U, Gunturkun O.
Functional cerebral asymmetries during the menstrual cycle: a
cross-sectional and longitudinal analysis.
Neuropsychologia. 2002;40(7):808-16.

Hausmann M, Slabbekoorn D, Van Goozen SH, Cohen-Kettenis PT,
Gunturkun O.
Sex hormones affect spatial abilities during the menstrual cycle.

Rode C, Wagner M, Gunturkun O.
Menstrual cycle affects functional cerebral asymmetries.

His lab has also done a lot of work on other aspects of brain-asymmetry.
