I've not investigated it in any detail but my perception was that it
was US scientists who have forced the use of epinephrine on us.  In
Britain adrenaline has been the term used for as long as I can
remember - in both scientific and medical settings.  Only in the last
few years have British pharmacology texts and formularies had to
change to epinephrine (in addition to several other annoying
Americanisms like furosemide instead of frusemide and amoxicillin
instead of amoxycillin).  I've never understood what the problem with
the term adrenaline was (I mean, it comes from the adrenal gland after
all?!?) but hey...
