"It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to review this splendid
contribution to the early training of tomorrow's neuroscientists...
The breadth of coverage is truly remarkable.. The writing style is
simple, exceptionally clear.. .Without doubt Shepherd's
Neurobio1ogy ranks as the very best introductory neuroscience book
available today for all genuine potential neuroscientists. .
Even advanced neuroscientists are likely to find material which is
unfamiliar to them."
 Trends in Neuroscience

"It is easy to be enthusiastic about this superb volume. It should become
the required text for all first-year medical students and all graduate
students in the neurosciences."
Journal of the American Medical Association

"This book will be useful not only to students but also to
neuroscientists. The broad range of subjects covered, all in the
consistent style of a single author, makes this textbook a
welcome addition." New England Journal of Medicine

"[The] descriptions of neural circuitry and membrane behavior are among
the clearest and most accurate I have ever seen-.." Physical Therapy
