[Neuroscience] Bioengineering professor hopes to mimic the brain on a chip

Kwabena Boahen, an associate professor in the Department of
Bioengineering, leads a research group that is trying to mimic the
functions of the brain's complex neural system using silicon chips.

Microchips that function as the brain does or see like our eyes do were
once consigned to an unrealized world of flying cars and robot
housekeepers. Thanks, in part, to a Stanford researcher, such
"neuromorphic" processors are becoming more of a reality.
