PARASITOLOGIST: Starting March, 1999 for 12 mo (We are seeking 2nd yr
funding) we need a parasitologist to help investigate the impact of
parasites, especially the tapeworm Bothriocephalus acheilognathi on the
endangered humpback chub (Gila cypha) in the Little Colorado River.
Responsible for field collection of fish; field and lab dissections of
various fish species; identification of various parasites; zooplankton
sampling and identification, laboratory investigations of water
temperature and flow on transmission dynamics of B. acheilognathi.
Minimum requirements are a BS or BA degree (Prefer MS degree) in life
sciences with course work in parasitology or practical/research
experience in parasitology. Ability to work under strenuous field
conditions a must. Salary minimum 27k with benefits, 40 h per week with
federal holidays. Work will take place at the USGS, BRD, National
Wildlife Health Center in Madison, Wisconsin and Little Colorado River,
Grand Canyon, Arizona.
