[Parasitology] Infestation vs Infection

I am an MSc student working on the effects of a sea louse parasite
Lepeophtheirus salmonis on juvenile Pink salmon. I am trying to discern
the difference and proper usage of infestation or infection.
I've been trying to find a reference for this also but have not been
able to find one. I have seen them used interchangeably, though
probably incorrectly so.

L. salmonis are ectoparasites which feeds on the mucus, skin, and blood
of salmonids.

The following are examples of how I am using the terms
Juvenile salmon become infested with L. salmonis
and Infected juvenile salmon would carry (ie. infected by L. salmonis)

Thank you for any help in clearing this up or directing me to the proper
use.

Sincerely,
Paul Mages
