Virus Hoax

I have been receiving numerous warnings about the imfamous "Good Times"
virus with requests to forward this on to the newsgroup. THIS VIRUS IS A
HOAX and was identified as such two years ago. Unfortunately, well meaning
persons keep discovering the "virus" and forward the warnings on across the
internet about every 5 months.

The "virus" warning was dreamed up as a hoax by a couple students two years
ago--the virus itself does not exist. The warning message, however, has become
duplicated and reposted so many times, that it has become a virtual virus,
which is probably what its creators intended.

Information on the hoax is available in many computer magazines and other
sources, if you are interested. I suppose in the future someone could come
up with a new computer virus and give it that name, but it could not
function as described in the warnings.
