I am aware of Kafir Boom - a blood red flowering tree grown in South
Africa. Fast growing, and highly sensitive to frost (when hit with
frost it developes shoots and grows bushy resembling a shrup - but not
natural).
Can be grown at high altitude (6000 ft), but does well in sub-tropical
environment.
Great for creating shade and spectacular beauty.
