A postdoctoral position intended to start by January, 1996, is available to
use site-directed mutagenesis to study the role of the reaction center H
protein in proton uptake by the R. sphaeroides reaction center. This
vacancy is in Vancouver, BC, Canada, as part of a collaborative project
between J.T. Beatty (UBC, Vancouver) and M.Y. Okamura (UCSD, San Diego).
Applicants should be well-versed in the molecular genetics of purple
photosynthetic bacteria, and additional biochemical/biophysical expertise
would strengthen an application. The salary of ca. CD $27,000 p.a. is
available for 2 years, with the likelihood of a third year of funding.
