I am looking for a PostDoc for a BBSRC-funded project entitled
"Photosynthetic light-harvesting and its regulation in cyanobacteria". The
post is available for three years from 1 October 1996. Starting salary
will be up to about =A318120 (including London allowance) according to
experience.

        The project will involve using transposon mutagenesis to generate a
library of random, tagged mutants of the cyanobacterium Synechocystis 6803,
then using a fluorescence video imaging system to identify mutants with
alterations in the coupling of phycobilisomes with reaction centres. The
sites of transposon insertion will be identified and the light-harvesting
processes in the mutants will be characterised using a range of advanced
spectroscopic techniques.

        The post would suit someone with experience of molecular biology;
previous experience of photosynthesis research would be an advantage.

        The Photosynthesis Research Group at University College London
offers an excellent working environment in a highly-rated department.

        Anyone interested should contact me as soon as possible:
