Basic Question From A Non-expert

I am hoping that some one may be able to provide me an answer to the
following question:

What would be the difference in oxygen production between old growth
timber and newly planted seedlings for species that are native to
southern Ontario Canada?

I realize that the question is probably an over simplification, but I
would be interested in any comments or ideas where I can find out more.
