Plant Tissue Culture Conference

The Second International Plant Tissue Culture Conference consisting of
eight sessions will be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from December 10-12,
1995. The first session will be on genetic transformation of rice and
other crops of economic importance and another on preservation and
micropropagation of recalcitrant plant species in general and recal-
citrant ecofriendly trees like "neem" in particular. The registration
fee is $50 but it can be waived for young post graduate students present-
ing papers/posters in the conference. In deserving cases the organizers
may be able to extend to the latter group local hospitality.
The last date of submission of abstracts is October 15, 1995,
and full paper a month thereafter. The proceedings will be published
by the Oxford & IBH, New Delhi, India. The printing of the proceedings
of the last conference held in December 1993, has been just completed
by the same publisher and will be avilable in the market soon.
The climate of Dhaka in Decemebr is very pleasant, the tempera-
ture ranging from 48 to 80 F. Spouses are welcome. Charges for the
spouses will be extra.
Special trips for those who would like to visit mangrove forests
in "Sundarbans" where the Royal Bengal Tiger abounds in or trip to
Cox's Bazzar which has the longest beech in the world may be arranged
in liaison with the Tourists Bureau.
