SALARY RANGE:	$20,650.32 a year minimum, plus benefits

POSITION LOCATION:	New Mexico State University


STARTING DATE:				1 October 1996

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy, Biology, Chemistry,
Horticulture or related discipline; Master's preferred or any equivalent
combination of education and experience which provides the required
knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Preferred: Experience with high pressure
liquid and gas chromatography, plant propagation and tissue culture,
radioisotopes, enzymology, centrifugation, gel electrophoresis and
greenhouse maintenance; knowledge of data management and analysis,
laboratory management procedures, and OSHA requirements would be advantageous.

DESCRIPTION: Duties will include conducting research into the physiology of
weeds and herbicides under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
Tasks will include standard laboratory and greenhouse methods in plant
physiology, molecular biology, and analytical chemistry.  Responsibility for
performing all OSHA required safety inspection, training and management
tasks will also be required under general authority of the Principal
Investigator.  Supervision and training of undergraduate laboratory aides.
Performing assigned research duties as required.
