Rhamnus cathartica (European Buckthorn)

Rhamnus cathartica (European Buckthorn) is a serious alien invader of
 woodlots, urban areas, abandoned fields, wetlands, hydro-rights of way, 
natural areas etc in southern Ontario and adjacent 
US States.  I wish to find out if others, too, are concerned by the invasion
 of this alien species and if there are others researching the control, 
spread, physiology etc of this and other
 Rhamnus species.  European Buckthorn appears to be the "Purple 
loosestrife" of many terrestrial habitats 
but is not getting the kind of attention it deserves.
