This is mentioned in Malcom Hunter's "wildlife, Forests, and Forestry" 
book.   The common name is tambalacoque, scientific name Calavaria 
major.  The reference listed is: Temple, S.A.  1977.  Plant-animal 
mutualism: coevolution with dodo leads to near extinction of plant.  
Science 197:885-886.
