Dave--
The plant is probably Rhoeo discolor (also known as
Rhoeo spathacea and as Tradescantia spathacea). It may
flower if you give it more light. Mine does best in bright
filtered or reflected sunlight. In the proper growing
conditions it flowers profusely.
