terpene / terpenoid levels in plants

I am currently working on a proposal for a project that entails testing 
the levels of terpenes / terpenoids in species of Salvia.  I am 
interested in testing levels only, not identifying.  If anyone is aware of 
techniques for this type of assay (or something similar), or could direct 
me to literature, I would greatly appreciate it.
