For classroom studies just get them from the grocery.
I get 90% + germination rates.  I try to buy at a
"high volume" grocery so I am more likely to get fresh
beans, but they are good on the shelf for a few years
so almost any are fine.  Vulgaris is just the red
kidney bean...I have used Goya, Jack Rabbit, Hurst,
and a few others I don't remember.  All have been fine.
