Ethnobotany labs

I am going to start an ethnobotany course next year, and plan to include a 
few labs in the schedule.  I will include some chemical and biological tests 
of plant extracts, similar to a lab that I now do in another course.  But, I 
would also like to do some work with natural dyes, perfume-compound 
distillation, and rubber production from latex-bearing plants.  Does anybody 
have any ideas on where to find information on these topics, especially as 
relates to plants native to the eastern/central US?  Thank you!
