The message <199710211921.PAA26106 at bioserver.bio.mtu.edu>
from jmglime at MTU.EDU ("Janice M. Glime") contains these words:
> Polygonum hydropiper and Polygonum hydropiperoides are two different
> species. An older (much older) name for Polygonum hydropiper is
> Persicaria hydropiper. Gleason & Cronquist (1991) list its common name as
> water-pepper, with a distribution from Quebec to B.C, s to Alabama and
> California, but it is native of Europe.
And we in Europe have renamed P. hydropiper back to this original
name, Persicaria hydropiper.
Re Stace New Flora of the British Isles 2nd Edition (1997), and
probably Flora Europaea.
