Auxin assay question

To all,

        I seem to recall seeing an experiment in which seeds are germinated
on agar containing a pH-indicating dye.  The dye changes color in the zone
of cell elongation due to the auxin-induced acidification of the cell wall.
 Does anyone use this assay in teaching labs and, if so, can you fill in
the details for me?
