The College's biological supply services do not cover this specimen and I
wish to obtain a small quantity of it.
Cochineal (Dactylopius coccus).
(Relevent to plant newsgroup here...)
A small prickly-pear cactus parasidic insect, common in the midwest and
South American countries (Peru, Brazil).
If you have availability to it please respond. I wish to obtain a small
sample (3-4 individuals), preferably dead (to escape
interstate-international live organism restrictions), and dried (fluid
preserved is fine, but having a physical specimen that can be easily
studied, handled, and looked at by students is simpler when preserving
fluids aren't involved; I do not intend to keep the specimin for an
exorbinant period of time and decompision isn't an issue [for not having it
fluidly preserved]).
Thank you.
