Position Statement: 
The School of Tropical Biology is seeking a PhD qualified (or soon to be
qualified) plant scientist with research interests in Aquatic or
Terrestrial Ecology and Systematics to teach and coordinate appropriate
undergraduate subjects and practical classes and to develop an active
research program. A  sound knowledge of Australian ecosystems, involvement
in field studies and a demonstrated capacity to motivate students will be
expected

Duties and Accountabilities: 
· Teaching in appropriate areas of Plant Science;
· Research in appropriate areas of Plant Science;
· Postgraduate and Honours supervision;
· Other scholarly and administrative activities under the direction of the
Head of School.

Essential Selection Criteria:
· A PhD (conferred or submitted) in an appropriate field of plant science;
· Demonstrated capacity to develop a strong research record (Level A) or
good publication record (Level B) in plant science, preferably in the areas
of aquatic or terrestrial ecology and systematics;
· Ability to attract (Level A) or record of attracting (Level B)
competitive research funds;
· Proven ability to present scientific information in a stimulating way,
especially to undergraduate students;
· Well developed oral, written and statistical skills;
· (Level B) Experience in supervising honours and/or postgraduate students;
· capacity to enhance and complement current teaching and research skills
in the School; 
· Ability to develop novel approaches to teaching at undergraduate level;
· Experience in Australian ecosystems.

Desirable Selection Criteria: 
· Experience in tropical ecosystems; 
· Willingness and ability to contribute to undergraduate teaching in one or
more of the following areas: biology of aquatic plants, population ecology,
reproductive ecology, systematics and/or introductory botany.

Employment type: 
Appointment will be on a continuing basis subject to a probationary period.
Salary: $47,905.00 to $56,684.00 for Lecturer - Academic Level B;
$33,876.00 to $45,563.00 for Associate Lecturer - Academic Level A p.a.
Salary Information: Commencing salary according to qualifications and
experience. Benefits include employer superannuation contribution,
