I agree with Bill.  Not much here...

Yes, matter IS converted to energy and
such calculations are truly amazing.  Your
students may be doing those calculations
in Chemistry or Physics classes.  For example:
in nuclear fusion, hydrogen atoms combine to
form helium...the mass lost in this fusion
can be calculated to yield much energy and
that IS the energy of sunlight that drives all
biological processes (directly in PS or indirectly
in most others).
