If you've got the common name for those guitar woods (something more
specific than "Maple" would be best, since there are a couple of dozen
species of maple), you can find the binomial (latin scientific name)
in:
    Mabberley, D.J. 1987. The Plant Book. Cambidge Univ. Press. 706 pp.

This is a dictionary of plant names, complete with compact information
about many entries.
