Pulvini

The latest copy of Discover magazine to come into our house had an interestng
article in the Breakthroughs section  about a Dr. Richard Cain at University
of Connecticut at Storrs, in which it was stated that he had looked at the
function of pulvini in monkeypod trees using a fluorescent marker that was able
to indicate which side of a pulvinis water was ingressng and egressing from. I
can't seem to find any published references to this work.  Can any netters
help me?
