Only two things I know about.
1: a method for making phloroglucinol preps semipermanent (Speer EO.
1987. Stain Technol. 62: 279).
2: lignin autofluoresces under UV light excitation (lots of refs); for
me, easily the quickest and easiest way to find/show the stuff.
