Alismaceae

For comparison with late Tertiary fruits of the Alismaceae type I am
looking for good photographs and/or drawings, or better yet, actual fruits
of any or all of the N. Am. species of Echinodorus.

I have seen text which states that some workers consider Caldesia (old
world) and Echinodorus (New World) to be congeneric.  Would appreciate a
comment from an taxonomist who works with the Alismaceae or references to
appropriate publications.
