Microscope Sources Wanted

I'm looking for sources for microscopes to support my
study of native California flora.  I am not a professional
botanist; however, I would like to find a microscope that
is beyond the usual kinds found in hobby stores.  I would
prefer a _used_ microscope if I could get an instrument of
better quality or functionality.

you might give.

Also, I live in the greater Los Angeles area, so that sources
there would be preferred.
