Deadline of application: March 1, 1994

Recent Advances of Terrestial Ecotoxicology

The ecotoxicology of heavy metals still has many unsolved problems.
This course gives an insight both to the new theoretical achievements
and to the new methods of ecotoxicological research of heavy metals.

Themes:

* the background: evaluation of exposure and dose in the
       environment (emission and transport)
*      mobility and uptake
*      ecotoxicological mechanisms
* genetic and population aspects (the tolerance genes, evolution,
       etc.)
* effects on ecological interactions (plant-insect interactions,
       fungus-host interactions in mycorrhizae, etc.)
* risk assessment and principles for environmental standars

Lecturers: Professor Dr. W.H.O. Ernst, Dr. H. Schat, Dr. J.A.C.
Verkley (Department of Ecology and Ecotoxicology, Free University,
Amsterdam, The Netherlands), Prof. Dr. J. Salanki (Hungarian
Academy of Sciences, Hungary), Prof. Dr. J. Sothkov (Russian
Academy of Sciences, Russia). Also other lecturers will be invited.
