California Plant Surveys?

There is a series of plant surveys in an FTP site at crl.com. Most are
surveys of Oregon Cascades, but there is one for Santa Barbara County, Ca.
in March of this year. It is mainly the Santa Ynez Mountains. I have lists
from this area for the last four years, if you wish, email me for these.

Ceck out type specimens on gopher accessable herbarium catalogs like the CA.
Academy of sciences gopher, the Hrvard Gopher, Missouri botanical Gardens,
etc. Search for California, and a list of Ca. plants will come back.

Why do you want this information?

ftp instructions:

<ftp crl.com>
login as <anonymous>
password <e-mail address>
then type <cd users/ro/robbee/HERB>

the commands are <ls> list files
                 <cd> change directory
                 <get> get file
<bin> for getting .zip files [default is ascii]
                 <pwd> print working <current> directory

It's a file named botany.hrb

if you get into a directory and want to go back type <cd /> then
<cd users/ro/robbee/HERB> this is a bit awkward but it affords much more
storage
space rather than have it taken up by software to do the work for you.
