tomato regeneration

This question concerns the regeneration of tomato plants from tomato leaf
discs. I was wondering if cells belonging to the L1, L2 and L3 layer all
can give rise to new shoots or that preference is given to one (or two) of
these layers only. Who knows, or who knows somebody who may know this?
