Jumping Cacti?

Has anyone heard of a "Jumping Cactus"?

I've come across (what a friend tells me is) Jumping Cacti in the southern 
parts of Arizona.

This same friend tells me that the cactus is actually attracted 
(?electromagnetically) to passer-bys.  I must admit, that on several hiking 
forays, I have come across these cacti and even when I conscientiously avoid 
them, I always seem to get stuck with one of their needles.

Is there any truth to this attraction?
