HELP!!! Creeping Myrtle taking over.How do you get rid of it???

In Scotland there is currently much activity in producing midge
repellent from Bog Myrtle. Part of this development will provide
a lucrative cottage industry for many. Could it be that the plant
which is troubling you has similar properties?
